My father's story
My father is about 80 years old. He was born in Singapore and was transferred to Jesselton for work in 1957.
It's been 56 years now since he first stepped foot on the shores of Jesselton ( now Kota Kinabalu), the capital of North Borneo( now Sabah). How time flies. Those who have known him described him as a generous and humble man.
Years have gone by and he still remembers how Jesselton looked like in the 50's. He loves telling stories of his life.
When he first arrived at Jesselton ( Now Kota Kinabalu), he was on his own with only a white canvas bag over his shoulder as his luggage and knew no one. Now he has uncountable friends and fellows who will look for him everyday for just a cup of Teh O (Tea without milk) or Kopi O (Black coffee without milk). They will go to their favorite coffee shop to talk about "the old days" while sipping their hot drinks.
